西坂さんが探してきた古いもの、それらは彼の眼と脚と感覚の結晶のようなものであり、そこからさらに純度の高い部分だけを抽出した展示がしたいと声をかけたのが数年前。

人工物が自然に還る途上のもの、または自然物が時間に晒されることで生まれた造形物。

それらが折り重なる白日の景色の調和は、人間にとって不可触な領域の「時間」という現象が物に映り込む際のギリギリの美しさを、極端に繊細な身体的感覚で掬い上げてきた西坂さんならではのものだと感じて来ました。

古いものの伝播も含め、現代から零れ落ちつつあるそんな感覚を掬い上げた功績はとても大きいと私個人は思っています。

年間移動距離30,000km、それだけ動いても本当に響く物との出会いは年に数十回。

今回の展示では、そうして集められた古いものに加え白日と縁の深い作家7名の作品も展示致します。

白日一号店は築100年弱の擬洋風建築、kankakariも大正末期のほぼ同年に建てられた木造民家というのも不思議な偶然です。

古いものを愛する同志として、彼の貴重なコレクションがこの空間に並ぶのを愉しみにしています。
